Ask three production companies in Amman or Dubai for a product video quote and you'll get three very different numbers. That's not because someone is overcharging. It's because "a product video" can mean anything from a phone clip on a white table to a full day with a crew, a set and models.
This guide breaks down where the money goes, what changes when the video is produced with AI, and how to decide which approach fits your brand. If you want to plug in your own numbers, use our free product video cost calculator.
What you pay for in a traditional shoot
A traditional product shoot is priced mostly by the shoot day. A day usually includes some mix of:
- A director or videographer, and often an assistant.
- Camera, lenses, lighting and grip equipment.
- A studio or location rental.
- Props and set styling.
- Models or hand models, if the product is shown in use.
Then comes editing: cutting, colour, sound, text and exporting each version. Edits are often priced per video, and every extra format (9:16 for Reels, 4:5 for feed, 16:9 for YouTube) adds time.
Day rates in the Gulf are generally higher than in Jordan, and both are lower than typical rates in the US or Western Europe. Because rates vary so much by team and brief, our calculator uses rough starting values and lets you replace them with a real quote.
The hidden cost: you pay again for every new idea
The day rate isn't the real problem for most brands. The problem is that ads wear out. On Meta and TikTok, a creative that works this month often gets tired within weeks, and the brands that grow on paid social keep testing new hooks, angles and scenes.
With a shoot, every new idea that wasn't filmed on the day means another shoot day. So brands either over-plan one big shoot and run the same footage for months, or they stop testing.
What changes with AI-produced product video
With AI production, there's no shoot day. We start from your real product photos and brand assets, then generate scenes, camera moves and lifestyle shots around the product. The cost shifts from "days" to "creatives".
| Traditional shoot | AI-produced video | |
|---|---|---|
| Main cost driver | Shoot days, crew, location | Number of creatives |
| New idea next week | Often a new shoot | A new variation in days |
| Typical turnaround | Weeks, from planning to final edit | 3–7 days for a first set |
| Best at | Real people, real places, complex handling | Product close-ups, scenes, fast testing |
At Kastana Studio, AI ad creatives start from $349 for 5 videos and images, and a full set with product and brand films starts from $839. Final prices are agreed after a free consultation.
Where AI video is not the right choice
We'd rather you hear this from us than find out later:
- Real testimonials. If the point is a real customer talking, film the real customer.
- Complex handling. Products with moving parts, assembly steps or detailed demos are often clearer filmed for real.
- Very fine detail. Small engravings or text can drift. We check every frame, and sometimes the honest answer is a short real macro clip that we build around.
Many brands end up mixing both: one real shoot for hero content, and AI production for the weekly flow of ad variations.
How to decide
- Count the videos you need per month, including versions and formats, not just "concepts".
- Get one real shoot quote from a local team for that volume.
- Compare it with an AI quote for the same number of creatives.
- Think about speed. If you run ads, how fast you can test a new idea matters as much as the price.
If you'd like, send us your product and the number of videos you need, and we'll tell you honestly which route makes more sense.
